Elena Rivkin Franz, attorney and counselor-at-law, is licensed to practice in all California court and the United State District Court of Northern California.  During law school, she was a judicial extern for Judge James Ware of the Federal District Court in the San Jose Division.

Ms. Franz works with clients on matters related to business law and real estate law.  In particular, she focuses on business planning, from business inception to succession; real estate transactions and homeowner association law, and the estate planning needs for individuals whose wealth is tied into a family business.

Prior to entering law school, Ms. Franz worked in the real estate industry as a residential appraiser and property manager.  Later, she was a project manager for a condominium conversion.  Although she enjoyed operating in the navigational maze of rules and regulations to ensure compliance with the conversion, a legal education now lets her understand the rules.  Her practical experience in the real estate industry allows her to understand the problems many of her clients face on a daily basis.

During law school, Ms. Franz was a volunteer law clerk at the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, Fair Housing Law Project where she worked with other attorneys to develop their predatory lending mortgage practice long before ‘predatory lending’ was a term the public was familiar with.

Ms. Franz is an active member in the local legal community, helping to revive the Solo & Small Firm Section of the Santa Clara County Bar Association after a five-year hiatus.  She hopes that connecting local attorneys will help promote a sense of community for Silicon Valley attorneys.

Elena Rivkin Franz was born in St. Petersburg, Russia.  She has lived in the local San Jose area for most of her life.  In her free time, she enjoys yoga, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.  For some time, she was a fire hula hooper and an avid participant in an annual performing arts festival located in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.  She is married and has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
